Apex Clean Energy is in the final stages of development for Patriot Wind, a wind energy project expected to generate 178 megawatts of clean, homegrown energy. Local wind data confirms that the area under consideration is ideal for a project of this size, which will produce enough safe, pollution-free energy to power up to 55,000 Texas homes.

ABOUT PATRIOT WIND

Patriot Wind could offer an opportunity to address the Texas Gulf Coast's growing electricity demand and diversify Nueces County’s economy, supporting the rural farm community.

Patriot Wind is expected to include 58 modern wind turbines, which will be interspersed across active farmland in Nueces County.

AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR NUECES COUNTY

Patriot Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for schools, governments, and landowners. The total direct financial impact to the region is likely to be in the millions of dollars over about 30 years, with additional indirect economic benefits greatly exceeding that number.

Landowners with wind facilities on their property will receive annual lease payments. These payments will continue over the projected 30-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting millions of dollars into the economies of Nueces and nearby counties, as well as the city of Corpus Christi, to support local merchants, contractors, equipment suppliers, auto dealers, and others.

The power from Patriot Wind will be delivered into the electrical grid, which is managed by ERCOT. This local supply of energy will help build the community’s electric reliability with zero emissions or foreign fuels.

RESULTS ARE IN: CITY'S FEARS ABOUT IMPACTS TO BROADCASTING UNFOUNDED

The results of an independent study analyzing the potential impacts of the Chapman Ranch Wind project on local broadcasting signals have come in. The report, “Engineering Report Concerning the Effects upon Broadcast Facilities Due to the Construction of the Chapman Ranch Wind Energy Project in Nueces County, Texas,” by Evans Engineering Solutions, details a rigorous scientific analysis of broadcasting signals and concludes that “There is no predicted interference outside of the project area for any of [Corpus Christi’s] six [local] TV stations,” due to the Chapman Ranch Wind project. In addition, the report finds that the project will have no adverse impact on AM or FM radio signals. The report also notes that Apex is in ongoing communications with the Department of Commerce regarding the Chapman Ranch project and its affects on NWS radar, and it will work with the DOC to mitigate harmful interference if it occurs.

An Economic Opportunity for Nueces County

Chapman Ranch Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for schools, government, and landowners. In the long term, the project promises to bring sustained tax revenue to the county for the local government and schools, as well as 25 years of local purchasing, employment, and investment. Farmers who host turbines on their property and other participating landowners will also receive annual lease payments. These payments will continue over the projected 25-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting millions of dollars into Nueces County’s economy to support local merchants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
